Draws out emotional response
Got fictional characters in it
It's got lyric interpretation
Consolidates the songs meaning (Brings multiple things together)

Style: Surrealist - Unreal, bizarre, dream-like

Things you expect to see:
Abstract mise en scene
Lyric interpretation
Challenging "normal" expectations

Taking inspiration:

Pastiche - Borrowing techniques or styles from previous work

Homage - respectful references of a previous work

Parody - A humours imitation of a previous work

Question:

What has this video borrowed it's techniques and styles from?

1) 70's Music shows/Westerny type things/Hillbilly etc

Why is it not an Homage?

1) Because it's generalising music shows. If it was an Homage it would be specifically mentioning TV shows.

Why is it a parody?

1) Because it's taking the piss out of Alicia Keys - New York

Why is it not an Homage

1)  Because it's quite clearly taking  the piss out of the video.
