PRIMARY RESEARCH FOR ASSIGNMENT 2

Interviewee: Mikey Cullinane. School: Alder Community High School. Age: 15

Me: What do you think about documentaries?

Mikey: Depending on what kind of documentary you mean but I usually find them really interesting/compelling to watch

Me: Why?

Mikey: Cause you learn something new and in a visual, well presented manner, and as long as the adverts aren't too long, they're really good

Me: How is the Healthy Eating situation going in your School?

Mikey: Err, not too sure cause I have pack lunches but it's pretty much the same as when you were there except there's soup (which is really good) and everything is more expensive

Me: How could it be improved?

Mikey: I think that if they lowered the prices a bit and made the food look more appetising then more people would go for the Healthy options.

----------

Interviewee: Chelsea Hall. School: University of Sheffield. Age: 19

Me: What do you think about documentaries?

Chelsea: I think in general documentaries can be boring as they are not often entertaining for young people. However I do think if you spend time watching documentaries they can give you a lot of useful information.

Me: Why?

Chelsea: The voiceovers are often boring as they are usually middle aged men which is not interesting to younger people. Most younger people are easily bored and they need something to keep them engaged, possibly with humour.

Me: How is the Healthy Eating situation going in your School?

Chelsea: We have regular checks via online questionnaire asking what our habits are currently and what we intend to do in the future.

Me: How could it be improved?

Chelsea: Classes could be introduced to teach us how we can eat healthily on a budget and enjoy eating healthily i.e.: things we didn’t know there were healthy options for.

Alex: I generally enjoy documentaries

Me: Why?

Alex: Mostly because they are often very interesting

Me: How is the Healthy Eating situation going in your School?

Alex: The food sold in college is generally quite fresh and healthy

Me: How could it be improved?

Alex: Selling or giving out fruit would help

Interviewee: Charley Booth School: Ashton Sixth Form College. Age: 16

Me: What do you think about documentaries?

Charley: documentaries are pretty interesting but most of the time are boring

Me: Why?

Charley: because sometimes you want stuff that's funny or action packed

-----------------------

Interviewee: Ellen Simpson. School: Ashton Sixth Form College Age: 16

Me: What do you think about documentaries?

Ellen: I think documentaries can be very boring

Me: Why?

Ellen:  It depends on the topic of the documentary as if it is based around animals I would probably enjoy it, but if it was based on something I'm not that interested in I would most likely be bored throughout. It also depends on the presenter/narrator of the documentary as they will be in the whole thing so if I don't like them I'd be more likely to stop watching the documentary, or not even watch it at all

Me: How is the Healthy Eating situation going in your school?

Ellen: It's okay, most of the stuff for sale is healthy

Me: How could it be improved?

Ellen: Maybe if they lowered the prices a bit or put apples on display instead of cakes and cookies more people would go for the healthier option.
